Well finally something has been released and I’m not just “that guy who talks about making a game and never does it” anymore. Now this is a skeleton/barebones version of what I’m trying to create and really nothing is in there yet.
No: character animation, collision with enemies, multiple levels or even sound effects.
So why would I release this?
Because I can’t work on it anymore for about 3 months. School has been taking a backseat and its hurting me. So I have to put my head in the books…..I’m sure I’ll add little bits but it would help if I could get someone else to help on supplying resources like images/sounds/video, anything. The community has already given me so much to play with, just not in the quality I strive for.
I’d like to give some shout outs to Jude and Viper for putting some quality resources out there.
Here are some screenshots to look at before you download the game below:

This is my current logo, it shows at the start of the game and forces you to stare at its beauty for 7 seconds. Its the only thing that will force you to wait until its over.

This is the load screen. Its a bit grainy but this is a very minor problem.

This is the main menu as you could probably guess. Normal stuff is here, nothing new.

This is a screen from the demo level. You will see zombie Chad moving around but you can walk right through him since there is no damage to the player yet. Also I haven’t decided if this will be a DofLD game or an adventure game or anything else yet. Really the framework at this point will allow for most anything.

Another screen of the demo level. This picture shows how the levels are just made up of repeating backgrounds right now as you can see where the lady is at the cash register, its a repeated frame.

This was the original level that I made (the Penalty Box) which isn’t part of this release. Guess I can say this one is just a teaser.
Minimum System Requirements
/*Taken from the game engine documentation*/
Windows 98 SE, 2000, ME, XP (sorry to all those still using Windows 95)
DirectX version 8.0 or later is required
DirectX compatible graphic and sound card
Graphics card with at least 16MB of video memory (I’ve proven this on my laptop)
Full Download of All Files Here [16.3MB], otherwise you can download individual components below and see there descriptions
XviD:
The codec used to show the videos that show in the game. Originally I had DivX encodec video however the videos wouldn’t play on everyone machine and in order to allow them to play you would have to download a 14.1MB codec (bundled with a player) which is bullsh*t. So I opted to go for XviD which IMO is just as good and only has a 700KB download.
Download XviD Here [480KB]
Videos:
Really the videos are just the intro, the credits and the nelvana intro. I’d like to think they are not a vital part of the game. However you will get prompts saying they are missing so just click “ignore”.
The videos need to be in a folder called “video” in the same directory as the 6teen2dGame.exe
IF YOU CHOOSE NOT TO DOWNLOAD THE VIDEOS PLEASE JUST CLICK “IGNORE” FOR ANY PROMPT THAT COMES UP
Download Videos Here [11.3MB]
6teen 2D Game:
Finally the game, the reason you are here.
