Hey Maurico M. I had my app rejected the first time but it was an unrelated issue. I have Google Maps on my app and using jQuery Mobile I didn't notice that the footer was covering the Google copyright information. Might I ask what kind of content you are trying to load or how you are doing it to break the agreement. I use RSS data from Wordpress, Twitter API data, local pages, and loading external pages from a variety of sources (all educational in nature). Because I don't control the Wordpress site I have to open up all possible links so my plist ExternalHosts is just "*". I've noticed that I cannot do this in Cordova 1.6.1 (previously called PhoneGap).

Do you scrape any 3rd party sites for information without permission (ie. pulling lottery numbers or movie times to populate your own data)

If you want to post here or email me @ craigpfau[at]gmail[dot]com, I'd love to hear your issues.

Hi Craig, great post!

I want to ask you something, Did you have any problem with apple's developer agreement opening "external content" inside your app? Was your app approved?

Thanks

Thanks so much for the continued help! I'll give what you said a try, as I'm sure you've noticed by now, this is all super fresh to me. Right now i'm using jq mobile and a few other small plugins to JQ for slideshows and such.

You'd seriously be my hero if you can help me figure this video part out. Thanks!

Okay first thing I noticed is that where it says URLToOpenInUIWebView.com you need to replace that with www.vimeo.com

I'll try to get Vimeo embedded. I can't guarantee anything but I'll try.

Can I also ask what are you using in addition to PhoneGap? jQuery Mobile, Sencha Touch, jQTouch?

No git repo for this. Here's a text doc with my app delegate though: http://cl.ly/3g0x3P37370Q1s3h0v2n

It actually worked when I took out the else statement at the end. Still had a couple of warnings though.

That's a good point that I haven't thought through yet. I was just excited to get vimeo playing in App. How would you go about doing it if you don't use webview. I've read a lot on this and it seems like that's the only way apart from opening Safari. Would I be able to overlay some sort of controller that could close webview?

Thanks for your help on this!

Hey Nate,

So you want the Vimeo player to open within the app.

Are you opening the player in a container or just on its own? I ask because if you open anything within UIWebView without creating navigation, you cannot get back. For example, I create a jQuery Mobile framework and tell it to open www.google.com. It opens the site within UIWebView and now I have no way to get back to my app, I have to force quit and restart my app. Not a good solution.

I'm curious about the error from the view controller. That's separate from the application delegate from my understanding.

Do you have a Git repo that I could take a look at?

Hey, thanks for the article here.

Phonegap novice here...I'm trying to make this happen using the code that you posted (ios/phonegap/xcode). I just replace my entire "webview" section of the appdelegates.m. But it doesn't seem to be working. It's giving me the following errors:

1. file://localhost/Users/natehamilton/Desktop/LCBCChurch/LCBCChurch/Classes/AppDelegate.m: error: Automatic Reference Counting Issue: Receiver type 'PhoneGapViewController' for instance message does not declare a method with selector 'webView:shouldStartLoadWithRequest:navigationType:'
2.file://localhost/Users/natehamilton/Desktop/LCBCChurch/LCBCChurch/Classes/AppDelegate.m: error: Automatic Reference Counting Issue: ARC forbids explicit message send of 'dealloc'

As well as the following warnings:
1. /Users/natehamilton/Desktop/LCBCChurch/LCBCChurch/Classes/AppDelegate.m:106: warning: 'PhoneGapViewController' may not respond to '-webView:shouldStartLoadWithRequest:navigationType:'
2. /Users/natehamilton/Desktop/LCBCChurch/LCBCChurch/Classes/AppDelegate.m:106: warning: return makes integer from pointer without a cast

I'm not quite sure how to resolve any of these. Any light you can shed on this would be greatly appreciated.

Also, isn't "webview" the same as whitelisting a link and the childbrowser popping up?

I'm currently trying to get the Vimeo player to open in app, I'm assuming this solution should work?

For people struggling with the many possible changes of the appdeligate.m file, for phonegap 1.4.1 and for iphone5, this worked a treat. Remembering to set the target='_blank' was the key for getting this to work. Thanks.
